Have your say on the future of Queens Gardens in Colwyn Bay

Queens Gardens in Colwyn Bay is one of several formal parks in Conwy maintained by Conwy County Borough Council. Local Places for Nature (LPfN) are developing a flagship project to demonstrate how historic Victorian parks can be adapted to meet future challenges while keeping their heritage value.

LPfN was established in response to the Welsh Government declaring a climate emergency in 2019 and nature emergency in 2021. The LPfN programme works to create more space for nature and support biodiversity within local communities.

The project aims to:

  • Increase biodiversity
  • Create a more sustainable, inclusive and attractive park
  • Enhance habitats for wildlife
  • Improve resilience to climate change
  • Encourage community engagement and stewardship

Drop in events:

  • Friday 6 November, 9:30am to 1pm: Queens Gardens, Colwyn Bay
  • Friday 6 November, 2pm to 4:30pm: Colwyn Bay Library, Woodland Road West, Colwyn Bay, LL29 7DH
  • Saturday 7 November, 9:30am to 1pm: Bay View Shopping Centre, Sea View Road, Colwyn Bay, LL29 8DG

During the project, LPfN want to understand how local people use the gardens and what they would like to see in the future. The feedback will help to shape the improvement plans proposals.

The proposals will be publicised and consulted on to make sure the final masterplan reflects what the local community wants, as well as delivering biodiversity improvements and supporting sustainable long-term management.
