Paid Work Placement

Conwy County Borough Council is pleased to announce that applications are now open for its Paid Work Placement Programme, offering valuable opportunities for young people to gain experience in local government.

Funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the programme provides 16-week placements at 25 hours per week, paid at the National Living Wage. These placements are designed to support school, college and university leavers in developing the skills, confidence, and experience needed to take their first steps into employment.

Cllr Chris Cater, Cabinet Member for Audit, Policy and Performance, said: “These placements are ideal for people looking for a stepping stone into the world of work. Whether you're seeking experience to enhance your CV or want to explore a role before committing to a career path, this programme offers a fantastic opportunity.”

Participants will benefit from:

  • Hands-on experience working on real tasks and projects
  • Mentorship from experienced professionals in local government
  • Skills development to support future career aspirations

This year’s placement opportunities include:

  • Trainee Boat Operative
