Conwy County Borough Council is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate the launch of the new Conwy Seafood Trail at a special event on Saturday 12 September 2026 from 12-5pm on Conwy Quay.

The trail has been designed following the Gwynedd Seafood Trail model. Developed in partnership with the School of Ocean Sciences at Bangor University, it forms part of the wider Seafood Trail Cymru initiative, connecting visitors with the people, places and products that make North Wales' seafood industry unique.

The project was made possible through £79,500 from the Welsh Government, WCVA Coastal Capacity Building Fund 2025-2027, secured to strengthen local supply chains, promote marine awareness and support coastal communities through education, tourism and collaboration.

The launch event will showcase a range of activities celebrating Conwy's rich seafood heritage and local produce. Visitors can enjoy live cookery demonstrations from renowned local chefs, including Bryn Williams, alongside an oyster-shucking demonstration, a sushi masterclass, and live music from local favourites, the Conwy Seadogs.

A variety of local businesses and organisations will also be taking part, including Tŷ a Môr, Art by CD, Sweet Snowdonia, the Wild Oyster Project, Trancio, Snac Hapus, Conwy History, Festival Seafoods, and Conwy Sea Cadets. Information stands will be hosted by Seafood Trail Cymru, Bangor University School of Ocean Sciences, NRW's Coastal Path Team, and Visit Conwy.

In addition to the main event, visitors will have the opportunity to tour Conwy Mussels and meet the crew at the RNLI Lifeboat Station, providing a unique insight into the area's maritime industries and coastal heritage.

Cllr Sharon Doleman, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Economy and Communications, said: "The Conwy Seafood Trail celebrates the people, businesses and traditions that make our coastline so special. It showcases our seafood producers, restaurants, suppliers and coastal communities, while encouraging visitors to explore the county, supporting the local economy, and highlighting the important role seafood plays in Conwy's culture and heritage."

The free event provides an opportunity to discover the new trail, sample local seafood, and meet the businesses, producers, and community groups that help shape Conwy's unique coastal identity.

While admission is free, visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in a 1.5-hour Fishing Taster Experience with Conwy Boat Trips, departing at either 10:15am or 12 noon.
