Active Travel Abergele-31 (2)

Active Travel

Conwy County Borough Council and WalkWheelCycle Trust are asking Conwy residents for their views on current and future active travel routes around the county.

Conwy’s active travel network encourages walking, wheeling and cycling as a way of traveling for local journeys and promotes the health and well-being in local towns and villages.

Under the Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013, local authorities in Wales must regularly review and improve their walking, wheeling and cycling routes. This legislation made it a legal requirement for Councils in Wales to promote and develop a network of active travel routes within their area. Since 2013, Conwy County Borough Council has built new infrastructure, improved existing active travel routes and provided new facilities to benefit pedestrians, wheelers and cyclists.

The current Conwy active travel map was approved by Welsh Government in August 2022 and now the Council is asking for opinions on existing and future routes.

The consultation will run until Monday 9 November 2026. The revised map will then be submitted to Welsh Government in December 2026.

The public can give feedback online at Have Your Say on Walking, Wheeling and Cycling in Conwy! | DataMapWales or in person at drop-in events that will be advertised once locations and dates are confirmed.
