Conwy Council Trading Standards, Licensing and CCTV officers are working with North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Border Control as part of the UK-wide National Crime Agency led operation ‘Machinez 2’.
Premises in Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and Penmaenmawr were inspected as part of this operation targeting cash-intensive businesses.
Of the premises inspected, one licenced premises closed voluntarily, with a further premises closed by Trading Standards Officers on the grounds of public safety.
Police, Immigration and Fire officers dealt with several other issues and enquires are ongoing.
Conwy’s officers seized dangerous, Illicit, and fake tobacco, cigarettes and vapes (valued at approximately £10k) from purpose-built concealments.
Cllr Stephen Price, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Regulatory and Audit, said: “Conwy Trading Standards, Licensing and CCTV Officers are committed to protecting the public from dangerous goods, ensuring the safety of our community, and providing a fair-trading environment for all business across the County.”
