We are pleased to announce projects in Conwy are set to receive funding from the Pride in Place Impact Fund.

Bids were submitted by community focused organisations that want to deliver projects that address local needs, and from businesses bringing vacant premises back into use contributing to High Street and town centre revitalisation.

With nearly £1.5million allocated, the successful projects focus on improving facilities and refurbishing community buildings, enhancing public spaces and play areas. 

Cllr Sharon Doleman, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Sustainable Economy and Communications, said: “I’m delighted that these projects will be able to do vital work in, and with, our communities to make visible improvements to public and community spaces. I wish them all every success.”

Claire Hughes, MP for Bangor Aberconwy, said: "The Pride in Place Impact Fund is all about backing the projects that local people know will make the biggest difference to their communities, and I'm really pleased to see towns and villages across Bangor Aberconwy benefiting from this latest round of funding.

"Whether it's expanding a community hub in Penmaenmawr, reopening public toilets in Cerrigydrudion, or improving play parks and green spaces in Betws-yn-Rhos, these are practical investments that will have a positive impact on people's day-to-day lives.”

Gill German, MP for Clwyd North, said: "I’m delighted that the Pride in Place Impact Fund, provided by UK Government to make visible improvements to high streets and places of community value, will be used to fund these exciting community projects. All funded projects must be completed by 31st March 2027.   

Background: 

Pride in Place Impact Fund:  The UK Government’s Pride in Place Impact Fund was announced last year, and Conwy County Borough Council, along with other Local Authorities in Wales has received £1.5 million in capital funding over two years.

The funding aims to deliver visible improvements by March 2027. The objectives include:

• Community Spaces – to create, refurbish, or extend facilities and enable community organisations to improve valued local assets
• Public Spaces – to enhance green spaces, play areas, leisure spaces, street furniture or wayfinding.
• High Street Revitalisation – to improve shop frontages, bring vacant premises back into use, and create vibrant town centres.
• The Pride in Place Impact Fund offers capital grants for projects across the county. The projects must include physical improvements that make a lasting difference - routine maintenance and running costs are not eligible.

Earlier this year, the Council invited applications from:

• Community-focused organisations (including town and community councils) to deliver projects in Conwy County where there is clear evidence of local need.
• Businesses in priority towns undertaking projects that contribute to High Street and town centre revitalisation.

The Impact Fund is in addition to the Pride in Place Programme funding awarded for projects in the Mostyn and Tudno neighbourhood of Llandudno.
