Summer Reading Challenge 2025

Summer Reading Challenge 2025
This year’s Summer Reading Challenge will begin on Saturday (05/07/25) and will include free activities for families.
The Challenge celebrates kids' creativity and storytelling abilities with the theme, ‘Story Garden’ looking at nature, our environment and natural habitats.
During the summer, children aged 4-11 can visit any library in Conwy County to join the Summer Reading Challenge, and fire up their imaginations through the power of reading and creative expression.
Cllr Dilwyn Roberts, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Governance and IT, said: “The Summer Reading challenge is always popular in Conwy County, and it’s a great opportunity for children to discover the activities and resources that are available in their local library.”
Children are asked to read 6 books (or more!) before the end of the summer.
There’s a special collector poster when they join the Reading Challenge, stickers when they visit the library for more books and a certificate and prize when they complete the challenge.
Children will be encouraged to explore new books and stories as well as taking part in free activities, from arts and crafts to gardening and more.
How it works:
- Children sign up at the library to start their challenge.
- Borrow books and get reading!
- For every book read, children will pick up stickers along with other rewards as they progress through the challenge.
- Every child who completes the challenge, by reading 6 library books, receives a medal and certificate.
