UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) delivers a boost to Conwy
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) has delivered a boost to Conwy, supporting a wide range of local initiatives.
Councillors will hear about the impact that UKSPF investment has had across the County over the last three years at a meeting of Finance and Resources Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 20 October.
Conwy County Borough Council awarded £24m from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to deliver results for residents, businesses and communities.
In total, 31 core projects were funded that supported a range of initiatives including investing in employability and skills; infrastructure and asset improvements; heritage, culture and tourism; and community safety.
Among the 31 projects was the establishment of four Key Funds, three managed by the Council: the Community Regeneration Key Fund; the Supporting Local Business Key Fund, and the People and Skills Key Fund and the fourth Key Fund, Voluntary Sector & Capacity Building, managed by the Community Voluntary Support Conwy (CVSC). These Key Funds supported smaller-scale projects and enabled the distribution of the UKSPF funding at a local level for projects identified by communities, voluntary organisations and businesses. Over £8 million in UKSPF grants supported more than 190 projects via the Key Funds. Measurable benefits to communities and businesses across the county were achieved, demonstrating the effectiveness of locally targeted investment.
Cllr Sharon Doleman, Cabinet Member Sustainable Economy and Communications, said, “I am delighted that projects across our county have been delivered, these have had a significant impact on residents, communities and businesses. Projects have enriched the cultural and economic environments in our towns and villages and have provided employment opportunity and enhanced access to employment for residents throughout the County.”
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) proactively supports delivery of the UK-government’s five national missions: pushing power out to communities everywhere, with a specific focus to help kickstart economic growth and promoting opportunities in all parts of the UK.
