Wellbeing support line for social care workers in Wales

The Welsh Government has funded a new Samaritans helpline for the health and social care workforce in Wales.  All calls are free and answered by trained volunteers who provide confidential, non-judgmental support.  For more details, please visit the Samaritans website.

Social care workforce special payment scheme

On 19 June 2020 Welsh Government released interim guidance on the social care workforce special payment scheme. A one-off £500 payment has been introduced to recognise the hard work and commitment of social care staff who have provided essential care to our most vulnerable individuals during the Covid-19 pandemic.

We are currently working on how to get this to the care workforce in Conwy and will be in contact with you shortly about what information we need from you to make this happen.

Supporting your health and well-being

We're all aware how difficult and challenging these last few months have been and how you have been working under huge pressure in unfamiliar and rapidly changing circumstances. So it's more important than ever that you make sure you take time out to look after your own health and well-being. Beware of COVID-19 scams

National Trading Standards is warning people to remain vigilant following a rise in coronavirus-related scams that seek to benefit from the public’s concern and uncertainty over COVID-19.

Community Information

This website tries to map out lists of places doing food delivery, pharmacies willing to take medicines out to people, volunteer groups offering to help isolated people - all the community offers that have sprung up in to one website.

Single Point of Contact (SPOC)

We have set up a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) within Conwy which is now live. This is to support anyone within the community who cannot call on friends, family or neighbours to ask for help in collecting their shopping, giving medication, etc.

  • The single point of contact telephone number (SPOC) is 01492 575544.
  • This is a daily 9a.m - 5p.m service.

Voluntary Services Emergency Fund (VSEF)

WCVA has launched the Voluntary Services Emergency Fund (VSEF) application process.  The purpose of VSEF is to enable those providing vital support to groups affected by Covid-19, such as: people in isolation, the elderly, carers, people struggling to access food etc so that they can be supported during this time.

VSEF will support not for profit organisations working at a community scale up to a national level in Wales and can be between £10,000 - £100,000.

More information can be found in the briefing and FAQs (Cwestiynau Cyffredin) documents and organisations can email vsef@wcva.cymru. Organisations can also be referred to the VSEF webpage and groups can use https://funding.cymru to find the COVID related funding most suitable to you.
