Road resurfacing: Coed Coch Road, Old Colwyn

Work starts: 8 January 2024 (weather permitting)

Work finishes: 19 January 2024 (weather permitting)

What is happening?

We are resurfacing part of Coed Coch Road, from the junction with Peulwys Lane to south of the junction with Pen-y-Bryn.

Our contractor will do as much work as possible with traffic signals and escort traffic in convoy through the site. But as the road is narrow, we will need to close the road at times to complete this work.

Will it affect parking?

Yes - there will be no parking on affected sections  while we do this work.

Please speak to the traffic management contractor on site to discuss if and when you can get vehicle access. We will maintain pedestrian access at all times.

What is resurfacing?

Step 1 - remove the existing surface (this is called planing)

Step 2 – Adjust or replace the ironwork, manholes & drainage gullies

Step 3 - clean the surface with a mechanical sweeper

Step 4 - lay a bond coating, to make sure the new surface sticks

Step 5 - lay the new surface

Step 6 - compact and level the new surface with rollers

Step 7 - repaint the road markings

Resurfacing is a noisy and dusty process, and we are sorry for the inconvenience this might cause. The new road surface will provide a smoother, quieter ride and will be a long lasting benefit to the community.
