How to Apply

To complete the online application form, please have the following digitized documents.

• DVLA check Code (If applicable)
• Enhanced D.B.S certificate Code* (If applicable) or you will need to provide three ID checking documents (e.g. Passport, Driver licence and Utility Bill)
  
  

  *Criminal Convictions & DBS service - If you need an Enhanced Certificate Conwy County Borough Council utilise a company called Checks Direct, these are a registered umbrella agency of the DBS, who will administer your application on our behalf. Payment is made directly though Checks Direct Checks Direct | DBS Checks, Vetting & Screening Services.

  All DBS certificates will require updating on a 3 year basis

  ID checking guidelines for standard/enhanced DBS check applications - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

• 9 character tax code - Complete a tax check for a taxi, private hire or scrap metal licence - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Fees

The Council has the discretion to grant or refuse the licence.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in writing within 14 days of the decision being taken.

Processing and Timescales

Once fee has been paid and all the associated documentation is submitted to policy, the licence can be granted the same day.

Appeal/Redress mechanisms:

The applicant would be able to appeal any decision by way of complaint to the Magistrates’ Court within 21 days of being notified of the Council’s decision.
