Currys: From recruitment challenge to 16 new recruits in just three weeks

When Currys needed to recruit for its Llandudno store, Conwy Employment Hub was asked to help bring local people and the employer together – resulting in 16 new recruits in just three weeks.

Currys is the UK’s largest consumer electronics and appliance retailer, with more than 300 stores and over 10,000 employees. After being named one of The Sunday Times’ Best Places to Work in 2026, the company was looking to strengthen its team at its Llandudno store ahead of the busy peak season.

Currys approached Conwy Employment Hub for help with its recruitment campaign. Working in partnership with the Jobcentre, the Hub worked closely with Diletta Fanni, Currys Recruitment Manager, and Jason Griffiths, Store Manager at Currys Llandudno, to organise a bespoke Recruitment Open Day.

Held at St George’s Hotel in Llandudno, the event gave local jobseekers the chance to find out more about working for Currys, meet the team and hear about the career opportunities available. The Currys team gave a presentation about the company, its values and what it means to work for the retailer. They explained that Currys is about more than selling products – it’s about helping customers get the most from technology by providing expert advice, support and confidence.

The event attracted 53 local jobseekers, who had the opportunity to learn more about the roles available and what Currys looks for in its employees. Those who wanted to take the next step were invited to visit the Llandudno store, meet the team and arrange an interview.

The recruitment campaign generated significant interest, with more than 200 applications for the vacancies.

Following the campaign, 16 people were successfully recruited within just three weeks. The new recruits provided a valuable boost to Currys’ staffing levels ahead of peak season, while also helping the store maintain great customer service and day-to-day operations.

Diletta Fanni, Currys Recruitment Manager, said:

"The support provided by Conwy Employment Hub had a direct and measurable impact on the success of our recruitment campaign."

"Alice’s initiative, coordination and proactive approach helped us raise awareness of Currys and the opportunities available, including through local radio. She also played a central role in organising and promoting our recruitment day, which attracted between 53 candidates in person."

"In total, over 200 people applied for the vacancies and, as a direct result of the collaboration, we successfully recruited 16 high-quality candidates within just three weeks."

"Alice’s professionalism, communication and commitment to supporting both candidates and employers have been outstanding. Her contribution was central to the positive outcomes we achieved together."
