Searches can be submitted electronically and direct to the Unit, with our search request form. Alternatively searches can be submitted by post or via the NLIS Hub - see link below.
Submitting Electronic Searches
Submitting an electronic search couldn't be easier. Once you have completed a simple registration form, you will receive a user name and password then you can order your search(es).
Local Land Charges Fees
Our electronic search fee (LLC1 & CON29 (R)) is £76.00. Please remember to include all optional and additional enquiries when submitting the search. Plans can be submitted as scanned images (PDF, JPEG or GIF) or faxed. Payment of searches is arranged by monthly invoice which can be paid electronically (BACS), or debit/credit card. You have the choice to receive your search results electronically or through the post. Our aim is to process and return your completed search within 2-4 working days.
The Unit also provides a free Council Information Pack with all full search results. It includes information and contact details of the Council's services which may be helpful to people who are moving house.
Submitting a full postal search
When submitting a full search application to the Local Land Charges Unit, please ensure you enclose the following:
- Form LLC1 in duplicate
- Form CON29 (R) in duplicate
- Form CON29 (O) in duplicate if extra questions are required
- The correct fee - please note that searches will be returned if the fee is incorrect.
In order to avoid delays, all searches must be submitted with plans in duplicate, showing the boundary of the property clearly marked. It is important that the plan also shows the surrounding roads/properties. Please remember to include all optional and additional enquiries when submitting the search. The Unit will aim to dispatch searches of the land charges register and enquiries within 10 working days. The Unit now operates a computerised search process and response time averages between 2-4 working days.
