We're proud to share our care service ratings

Conwy County Borough Council is committed to providing high-quality care and support services and being open about how we’re doing.

Under the new Regulated Services (Inspection Ratings) (Wales) Regulations 2025, all care homes and care-at-home services in Wales are now legally required to display their inspection ratings clearly on their websites (if they have one) and at their physical location.

We're proud to follow these new rules and are now displaying the inspection ratings for our internal care and support services.

Why these matter

This new rating system gives clear, reliable information to help people make informed choices about care for themselves, a family member, or a friend. It also helps us reflect, improve, and celebrate the work we do for the vulnerable people we support across Conwy.

How services are rated

Each care service is inspected and rated in four key areas:

  • Well-being – how well the service supports people’s physical and mental health, independence, rights, and relationships.
  • Care and support – how well the service meets individual needs.
  • Leadership and management – how effectively the service is run, how staff are supported, and how quality is monitored.
  • Environment – for services with accommodation, how safe, comfortable, and well-maintained the building and facilities are.

Each area is given one of the following ratings:

  • Excellent
  • Good
  • Requires improvement
  • Requires significant improvement

The benefits of this system

This new approach supports Conwy to:

  • Celebrate where care is excellent
  • Learn from what’s working well
  • Identify areas for improvement
  • Motivate and recognise our dedicated care teams
  • Build trust with the people who use our services

Are all services included?

Most of our care services will display their ratings. However, some services are not required to do so:

  • Services for children and young people under 18
  • Very small services (four or fewer residents), unless they choose to display their rating
  • Services run from private homes or places the public can’t access

Our commitment

At Conwy, we're proud to be open about the quality of our care. Sharing our ratings helps build trust, supports people in making confident care decisions, and helps us continue to improve the services we provide.
