The aim of More than Just words is to provide a greater level of recognition among service providers and that the use of the Welsh language is not just a matter of choice but also a matter of need for many people.
The Social Services and Wellbeing act (SSWBA) Section 6 Places a duty on those carrying ot social Services function to consider characteristics, culture and beliefs of individuals including language when delivering services.
The Active offer is set up to enable services to be provided in Welsh without someone having to act for it.
The Welsh Language should be as visible as the English Language.
To support this, we are offering a free 1-hour session on `More than Just Words`. This will be a practical session delivered to you and your team, including the use of a toolkit to support promoting the Welsh language and culture for you, your staff and residents.
The session will cover:
- Introducing More than Just Words & The Active Offer
- The importance of understanding cultural preferences in your services
- Toolkit giving practical examples and activities to implement the promotion of Welsh Culture
All we ask from you is a quiet area ideally with access to a TV to share a presentation and a minimum of 4 staff to attend the session.
Please email sc.training@conwy.gov.uk advising of a date and time that is suitable for me to visit your setting.
