Become a Councillor

Council Chamber
Ahead of next year’s local elections, Conwy County Borough Council is raising awareness and providing information about becoming a councillor.
Councillors work with local people and partners, such as community groups, businesses and other organisations, to represent their communities and make important decisions about local matters and local public services.
- Do you care passionately about your local community?
- Is there something you want to change?
- Are you ready to take challenging decisions?
Being a councillor is a varied and fulfilling role where you can help change people’s lives for the better.
And it’s important that councillors reflect the values and needs of the people who elect them, so that they can represent all the different views in the community and take decisions for the common good.
Conwy County Borough Council is made up of 55 councillors who are elected by the public in local elections, and the next local elections across Wales will be held in May 2027.
