Van and commercial-type vehicle permits

It is unlawful to dispose of business waste with household waste. To deter potential unlawful use of Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) in Conwy, vans and other commercial-type vehicles will not be permitted entry unless they have a permit.

Permits for vans and commercial-type vehicles are currently issued free of charge. There are two types of permit, so if you’d like to apply for one please carefully read the information below and select the option which best applies to you.

Single Use Permits

Single Use Permits will be issued to residents who:

  • Own or have use of a vehicle which displays business signage/logos/other advertising
  • Wish to hire/borrow or otherwise use a van or commercial-type vehicle which is NOT registered to their home address
  • Wish to use a twin-axle trailer

To apply for this permit you will be required to provide:

  • Two separate documents to demonstrate proof of occupancy within the County of Conwy
  • A list of the items you intend to dispose of at the HRC
  • Please note - if you intend to dispose of chargeable waste, you will need to pay for this upon arrival at the Household Recycling Centre

Single Use Permits are valid for one entry into the HRC and must be used within a calendar month of the date of issue.

You may apply for a maximum of 2 Single Use Permits in a rolling 12 month period.

Domestic Permits

Domestic Permits will be issued to residents who own a van or commercial-type vehicle that:

  • Is registered to a Conwy household for personal/private use and NOT for business use - 
  • Dipslays NO business signage/logos/other advertising
  • Is below 2 metres in height

To apply for this permit you will be required to provide:

  • A copy of the V5 Vehicle Registration document
  • Two further documents to demonstrate proof of occupancy at the same address to which the vehicle is registered.

Domestic Permits come in two parts:

  1. A display permit, which you should affix to the inside of windscreen or a window of your vehicle
  2. A booklet of 20 entry vouchers. You should tear out a voucher and hand it to site operatives each time you visit a HRC.

You may apply for one Domestic Permit in a rolling 12 month period.
