Equality Plan goes out for consultation
Conwy County Borough Council has produced a draft of its Strategic Equality Plan for 2024- 2028 and is asking the public to provide feedback on the document, so that communities can help shape the plan.
The Strategic Equality Plan explains the Council’s commitment and drive to be an organisation that actively seeks to improve the lives of people with protected characteristics*. It shows how the Council will contribute to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
The draft Strategic Equality Plan sets out the key priorities that the Council will focus on for the next four years and incorporates actions from Welsh Government’s Anti-racist Wales Action Plan and LGBTQ+ Action Plan.
Cllr Chris Cater, Cabinet Member for Democracy and Governance, said: “This Plan is about treating everyone as individuals. We want to help create a more inclusive society promoting equality of opportunity and tackling discrimination. We know we can’t achieve this alone, and we’ll continue to work with communities and other organisations to create real and meaningful change; we’re listening and we’d really like to hear your ideas.”
The deadline for feedback is 2 February 2024. Following any updates to the content, the Plan will be presented to the Finance and Resources Scrutiny Committee for discussion and to Cabinet for approval in due course.
