This course is suitable for anyone requiring a First Aid at Work qualification and will be valid for a period of 3 years.

Course overview

The course contains lifesaving skills and includes:

  • Understanding the role of the first aider, acting safely, cross infection, recording incidents, available equipment and its use
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to access and use an AED (Defibrillator)
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking, wounded or suffering from shock
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries, small cuts, grazes, minor burns and scalds
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with, injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries, chest injuries, burns and scalds, eye injuries, sudden poisoning, anaphylactic shock
  • Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid including, heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes
  • Formative and Summative assessments will take place during the course in order to verify that the learning objectives have been achieved.

  • Duration: 3 Days/minimum of 18 contact hours - 9:15am to 4:15pm
  • Cost: £245 (£257 from April 2026)
