The Welsh Government is expanding free school meals to all secondary school pupils in households claiming Universal Credit, with no income limit, starting with children in years 7 and 8.
Conwy County Borough Council is now accepting applications for this expanded free school meal offer. Eligible pupils will begin receiving free school meals from 2 November 2026.
The expanded offer is currently available to eligible pupils in years 7 and 8 only. It provides free school meals only and does not include the School Essentials Grant.
How to apply
If you have already received confirmation that you are eligible for free school meals, you do not need to take any further action.
If you have not received confirmation and believe your child may be eligible, please apply now so that your eligibility can be assessed.
Where a pupil is eligible under the expanded free school meal scheme, the entitlement will apply for the academic year and will be reviewed annually.
