Information for Hosts
Thank you for opening your home and supporting individuals and families displaced by the conflict in Ukraine.
Hosting plays a vital role in helping people settle into their new community whilst adjusting to life in the UK. As a host, you can expect support from the Community Inclusion and Resettlement Team throughout the hosting period.
The Hosting Process
- Initial match and sponsorship approval.Property checks carried out by the Council.
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks completed where required.
- Host approved and Visa issued to matched family/individual
- Guest arrival and welcome arrangements.
- Welcome letter issues to Host family Initial visit to Host accommodation
- Ongoing support from the resettlement team including regular welfare visits and accommodation reviews.
- Monthly Host thank you payment will be arranged
Arrival Payments
Eligible guests arriving under the Homes for Ukraine Scheme may receive an initial arrival payment to help cover essential costs when settling into their new accommodation.
Payment arrangements and eligibility will be explained by your Resettlement Officer following arrival.
End of Thank You Payments
Government funding arrangements may change over time.
Hosts are eligible for a monthly thank you payment that continues until the guest's initial 18-month Ukraine Permission Extension Visa expires.

If you are approaching the end of your Thank You payments, the Community Inclusion and Resettlement Team will contact you to discuss available options and provide advice on next steps.This may include:
- Continuing hosting arrangements
- Supported move-on planning
- Access to housing advice
- Guidance on private renting options
