Educational Psychologists (EPs) work across a range of settings, (for example, Early Years settings, schools, specialist additional learning provision and post 16 settings), to help achieve their best possible outcomes for children and young people.

EPs work in partnership with children and young people, their families, schools, settings and other agencies about a wide range of needs with regards to their:

  • Learning
  • Language and Communication
  • Sensory and Physical Development
  • Social and Emotional Development
  • Wellbeing


Educational Psychology helps us and others to understand how children develop and learn as well as how they may think, feel and behave.

The types of services that Educational Psychology Services can deliver are:

  • Specialist consultation, advice and assessment
  • Providing psychological interventions
  • Providing support for parents/carers
  • Carrying out research, evaluation and the development of policy and practice
  • Providing professional development and training
  • Supporting communities when there are critical incidents and sad events
