Housing policies, plans and strategies: Local Housing Market Assessment

Summary (optional)
start content

The purpose of the Local Housing Market Assessment is to provide a robust evidence base to inform the Local Housing Strategy and the provision of affordable housing within the Local Development Plan.

The assessment is prepared in line with guidance by the Welsh Government.

The principal finding of this assessment is that the county needs more affordable housing. The supply of new housing, and in particular, affordable housing, has not kept pace with demand. The assessment has identified the need for a total of 1,145 additional affordable homes over the next five years, which equates to 229 units per year. This figure is in addition to committed affordable units which currently have planning permission, are allocated in the Local Development Plan or within the Social Housing Grant programme.
