This section is designated as a family zone, and we want to create an accessible and welcoming promenade space.
As part of the improvements, we will make six separate play areas for children to enjoy as they move along the promenade.
The play areas will include:
- stepping domes and balance beams
- exercise play trails
- parkour type equipment
- totem poles
- acoustic play equipment
- hopscotch markings
- picture communication boards
Accessible play
We have designed the play areas to be appealing and accessible to all children. Standard play equipment doesn't always allow all children to take part in play. Some of the equipment has been specially chosen for sensory stimulation and to encourage interaction with the surroundings.
Safety
The play areas will be clearly marked and protected by barriers from the roadside walking and cycling route to provide a safes pace for play.
