What is a Community Environment Day?

Community Environment Days are run by the Council to:

  • Encourage your local community to tackle any environmental issues in the area
  • Reduce your community’s carbon footprint by helping you to re-use and recycle as much as possible
  • Support you and other local residents to create an atmosphere of civic pride in your community

What services are available?

  • Litter picking and  fly-tipping removal by Council staff and supervised voluntary groups from the Youth Justice Service and Community Justice Interventions Wales
  • Small improvement jobs by The Environment Response Team such as graffiti removal, painting work and drain clearance
  • Free compost: please bring a suitable container to take it home in
  • Free bulky waste disposal: a staffed skip will be available for you to dispose of bulky household waste items (such as mattresses, old beds, paint cans, TVs and garden furniture etc) or garden waste. We will take it back to our sorting facility and recycle as much as possible.

We cannot collect bulky waste from your home during environment days. If you cannot bring your bulky waste to our skip, you can book and pay for a bulky waste collection online or call our Advice Team on 01492 575337.
