What is a Community Environment Day?

Community Environment Days are run by the Council and aim to:

  • Encourage your local community to tackle any environmental issues in the area
  • To reduce your community’s carbon footprint by helping you to re-use and recycle as much as possible
  • To support you and other local residents to foster an atmosphere of civic pride in your community

What services are available?

  • Litter picking and removal of fly-tipping by Council staff and supervised voluntary groups from the Youth Justice Service and Community Justice Interventions Wales
  • The Environment Response Team will be carrying out small jobs such as graffiti removal, painting work, drain clearance etc
  • Free compost: please bring a suitable container to take it home in
  • Free bulky waste disposal: a manned skip will be available for you to dispose of bulky household waste items (mattresses, old beds, paint cans, TVs, garden furniture etc) or garden waste. We will take it back to our sorting facility and recycle as much as possible.

NB: a collection service is available upon request for anybody who may need help bringing bulky household waste items to the manned skip at their local environment day. To find out if you are eligible for a collection, please contact us.
