Training

Conwy Employment Hub is focused on ensuring participants are given the best chance to enter the workplace with sustainable work through a variety of training offers. This support includes a diverse approach to supporting their needs to upskill through training and development.

The Hub has focused on offering a number of pathways into targeted areas of employment to meet employers' needs and therefore local market needs, including pathways into construction, HGV driving, recycling, leisure and security, and upskilling participants who wish to enter self-employment through a Social Media pathway. All pathways have offered a blend of training on soft skills and employability, certificated sector-based qualifications and hands-on work experience.

We have partnered with local providers ranging from the third sector to independently owned businesses to provide this training and development, including the following:

  • Crest
  • Creating Enterprise
  • ALG Security
  • Road to Logistics
  • Procure Plus
  • Carmel Driving School
  • TBC Marketing
  • WOW Training

In addition to pathways, The Hub has offered ad hoc training courses that sat within our participants' development plans which were agreed with their Mentor. Predominantly these were industry specific certifications to enhance their chances of securing employment in their chosen field, as well as some general qualifications to support their development. They included training in food hygiene, health and safety, CSCS, basic literacy as well as construction, driving, numeracy, digital competency and health and beauty.

The Hub also delivered personal development and educational opportunities through community interventions. These included foraging, educational trips in Conwy area with local guides and family educational/social interventions which included days out at a local ecological park, nutritional information sessions and a visit to Welsh Mountain Zoo which included an educational session.

A number of these interventions were funded through Community Renewal Funding which supported 353 people, delivered 84 Ofqual qualifications plus many non-Ofqual qualifications. This was over 36 separate courses/events with 180 sessions and 1,155 attendances.
