This interactive workshop helps learners understand the legislative requirements for health and safety, completion of risk assessments, awareness of fire safety and precautions and manual handling awareness within early years settings in line with current legislation, regulations and good practice.

Course aims and objectives

By the end of the workshop learners will be able to:

  • aware of health and safety legislation, regulations and good practice relative to early years settings
  • understand employers and employee responsibilities within the legislation and regulations
  • hazard identification
  • understand what a risk assessment is
  • how to complete a practical risk assessment
  • complete a risk assessment document
  • identify fire hazards within early years settings
  • understand staff roles in fire prevention
  • understand staff roles and responsibilities in the event of a fire
  • identify manual handling tasks within the workplace
  • reduce risks when carrying out manual handling
