We are consulting on a new draft Adaptations Policy and would like your views on it. Under legislation, Local Authorities are required to publish policies which set out the forms of assistance they provide to homeowners and tenants in their area, and consultation is necessary to ensure that the policy is well informed.

The personal data that will collected and processed is:

We will not ask respondents to provide any personal data.

N.B. But we will ask if they will be affected by the policy (e.g. because they or someone in their household needs or is likely to need an adaptation).

The consultation is open to everyone but we are also interested in the views of people who fall within the protected characteristic groups most likely to be impacted by the policy. The reason for collecting this information is only to ensure we have obtained a wide range of views, and that our policy does not have a disproportionate negative impact on any group of people. 

As we are not asking for any personal data, we will not be able to use the information provided to identify any individual/s.

Data Protection Act 2018, Schedule 1, Part 1, Section 2(2)(f):  The policy will help to inform management of health care systems or services or social care systems or services.

How/where your data is stored:

The survey responses will be collated on the GovServices platform.

How long your data will be held for:

Current year plus 1 .

Who your data may be shared with:

Any data we collect will not be shared with any other person or department of the Council. Once the policy has been reviewed in light of the responses we receive, it will go before the Council’s Economy and Place Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Cabinet for final approval.

Your data rights:

In law you have a range of rights over your personal data which include:

  • the right to be informed
  • the right of access to the personal data we hold about you.
  • the right to correct any inaccuracies within the personal data we hold.
  • the right to have your personal data deleted when it is no longer required.
  • the right in limited circumstances to restrict how your personal data is used.
  • the right to object to the use of your personal data.


In the rare situations where we rely on consent as the lawful basis upon which we process your personal data, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
